of Goosewing Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming Includes Much More Than Horseback Riding
Times to remember:
Itinerary is subject to change based on packages, season, weather and other circumstances. Some activities are only available during our peak season, or may have age, weight or other restrictions.
This is valid for all ranch packages based on the days/nights of your package
Arriving late afternoon (check-in time is 4pm and we can’t accept early checkins), you’ll have time to check out the ranch and get settled into your private cabin before dinner.
Guests arriving between 4-5pm may have the option to get fitted to a horse and saddle and practice riding, or take their loping test. This is subject to weather, staffing, arrival times, and over all change. May not be available to all guests. You will be fitted to a horse and saddle the next morning if this is not available.
Get settled in, soak in the hot tub or explore on your UTV. Just before dinner watch the wrangler parade out to the pasture in front of the main lodge. Meet and greet the staff/wranglers and go through “Horse 101” to prepare for tomorrow’s riding. After dinner activity is roping lessons.
In the morning, explore the beautiful wilderness surrounding the ranch on horseback. Watch for deer, antelope, coyotes, bears, eagles, and more.
In the afternoon, you’ll have time to relax by the beautiful outdoor hot tubs before participating in target shooting and/or archery.
After dinner, enjoy the sunset fireside, or a game of kickball in the pasture.
Start the morning off by trying your hand at fly fishing on our stocked pond and Gros Ventre River that runs through the ranch.
By the afternoon you’ll be ready to get back on your horse! We offer breakfast rides a couple times a week if there is interest in doing so. In the afternoon, enjoy practicing hatchet throwing, or continue your cowboy skills with some team penning.
Enjoy cocktail hour under the gazebo. After dinner, our lodge staff will get everyone on their feet for an evening of western dancing!
There’s still so much to see on horseback! Today may take you to Soda Lake – through canyons and plateaus, by old authentic cowboy cabins – or to the Grey Hills, which will offer you a stunning perspective on the valley from atop cliffs overlooking the Gros Ventre River. On this afternoon you can also enjoy Western and Indian Arts and Crafts, a arena games on horseback and more. After dinner have fun with a scavenger hunt or relaxing by the fire. Perhaps this afternoon you’d enjoy a trip into Jackson for whitewater rafting, shopping, old west shoot out, and the rodeo. (Off ranch activities are not included in packages and are not organized by the ranch, this is merely a suggestion.) The rodeo happens every Wednesday and Saturday from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
If you’re ready for a full day horseback ride, Teepee Creek or Bacon Ridge provide absolutely fantastic scenery. The Teepee Creek trail offers riding through the forest, canyons, and ridges with views of the Teton and Wind River mountain ranges, while the Bacon Ridge trail offers wide open spaces ideal for loping alongside the Gros Ventre River.
Spend the afternoon showing off your new cowboy skills with in the Arena. You can also enjoy the instructed shooting sports in the afternoon. Enjoy a campfire under the stars after dinner, or a friendly game of horseshoes or bean bag toss.
Perhaps this morning you’d like to take out a Polaris Ranger to access excellent trout fishing upstream from the ranch. Or maybe you prefer another day in the saddle!
Enjoy one last trip into the wilderness on horseback and take in the Western beauty! You can do another breakfast ride this day also. Participate in target shooting or archery in the afternoon after a soak in the hot tub. If you are still up for more cowboy fun you can continue with some team penning. After team penning head down to the shooting range for skeet shooting.
After dinner put your boots on for a old fashion boot stomping, and line dancing. Enjoy a fire with s’mores.
Thank you for a unforgettable 6 night week! Check out is at 11am. You can enjoy the hot tub, fishing, mountain bikes, or your ranger until it is time for you to depart on your next adventure. Happy trails!
