Minimum Stay, Arrivals And Check-In/Out
The Goosewing Ranch requires a three night minimum stay. Three night packages are available with arrival on Sunday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Four night packages are available with arrival on Sunday or Wednesday. Five night packages are unique and not exclusively on the ranch, and will either include a night in downtown Jackson or on an over night pack trip. Five night packages (4 nights on ranch 1 night in town) start on either Sunday or Tuesday. Five night packages with pack trip option start on Saturday or Tuesday. Six and seven night packages have a Sunday arrival only.
Check-In time is 4:00 PM
Check-Out time is 11:00 AM
Early check-ins and late check-outs are subject to an additional service charge.
Smoking is permitted outdoors only. Smoking is not permitted while horseback riding or near horse facilities. If there is a fire ban additional smoking restrictions may apply.
Massages are included only in the Peak Season and Low Season Packages. They are not included in any of the Shoulder Season Packages. The three, four and five night packages include one 60 minute massage per cabin for adults over the age of 18 only. The six, seven and nine night packages include two 60 minute massages per cabin for adults over the age of 18 only. Massages cannot be traded or gifted to another person, cabin, employee or party.
There is a $10 corkage fee per bottle for guests who would like to bring their own alcohol. Goosewing Ranch has a great selection of beer, liqueur, and wine for sale. We can also special order in your selection with advanced notice.
For the safety of all guests and animals, the ranch does not allow pets, unless special permission is granted by management. If allowed, pets are not permitted in any ranch building, including cabins, at the lodge or cookout sites, or on trial rides, or near the horses.
Single occupancy allows for a maximum of one person to stay in a room at one time. Double occupancy allows for two people to stay in a room at one time. Children under 2 are free when sharing a room with two or more parents or siblings, and are not joining the full riding or activity program. Pioneer (two bedroom) cabins are based on a quad occupancy. Meaning the first four people pay the double occupancy rate. Less than four people at least one single occupancy rate would apply. The Pioneer Cabins have two room, the Indian, Cowboy and Trapper Cabins have one room.
Rates include all meals, lodging, daily maid service, on ranch activities, and all ranch amenities. Rates are per person.
Tax And Gratuity
Online rates do not include tax or gratuity. 22% of the total bill will be added to cover gratuity and taxes.
Credit Cards and Acceptable forms of Payment
Personal or travelers checks are preferred. Visa, MasterCard and American Express Credit Cards are accepted with no surcharge when used to pay for the deposit. A 3% credit card fee will be added when a credit card is used to pay for the balance. Wire transfers also accepted; please add on a $35 wire transfer fee.
Deposit & Final Payment
A 30% deposit is required to make a reservation. A credit card must be on file.
The balance is due and will be collected by the ranch 45 days prior to arrival. If balance remains more than 2 weeks past due additional charges may apply.
Cancellations & Travel Insurance
Deposits are non-refundable when reservations are cancelled at or after 60 days before arrival. If cancellation occurs less than 45 days prior to arrival, final payment is non-refundable. There will be a $150 service charge added to any reservation canceled, at any time after a deposit is taken. Optional travel insurance is available through a private provider with a fair rate, and strongly recommended. For reservations over $15,000 proof of travel insurance is required or you must sign off that you declined insurance. For large group reservations (3 or more cabins or over $15,000) deposits are non-refundable at 90 days before arrival, unless all accommodations can be re-booked. Cancellation fees will still apply.
Transportation and Off Ranch Activities
Transportation to and from the ranch can be provide by the ranch with an advanced notice. Transportation is $150 to $300 / party / vehicle / round trip + tax, rates vary depending on location and duration. Off ranch activities (such as: white water rafting, float trips, Town shopping, rodeo, guided fishing trips, National Park tours, etc.) are not included in package rates but can be arranged for you by the ranch with advanced notice. Transportation to and from off ranch activities is not included in activity rates.
Activity Restrictions and Recommendations
Activities are subject to change.
Some restrictions such as age and weight limits may apply to certain on ranch activities:
There are no activities on your check-in or check-out days, unless prearrange in special packages.
There is No horseback riding or activities on Sundays.
The weight limit for horseback riding for novice riders is 250lbs. For advanced riders 270lbs. Some trails or faster rides may be restricted if at or over weight limit.
Riding age is a minimum of 6 years old for the trail and 3 years old for pony rides around the ranch. For trail rides children need to be able to follow instruction and control their horse.
Skeet (clay) shooting: shooters must be a minimum of 16 years of age, all shooters must wear protective eyeglasses and earplugs.
Recommended minimum driving age of the UTV is 16 years old with a valid driver’s license.
First time fly fisher-kids must be at least 12 years of age
The billiards table in the lodge loft is for people 18 years of age or older. There is a kid’s cabin with games and activities for those younger than 18 to enjoy.
Additional restrictions or recommendations may apply to both on ranch and off ranch activities.
Children 3 years old and older can join the young buckaroo’s program. Children under 3 years of age or not participating in the programs are the full responsibility of parents.
Shoulder season packages don’t include any extra activities or special activities, such as, massages, horse swimming, breakfast rides, extra shooting, pack trips, wagon rides, kids programs, swimming pool, and possibly others. This is a great time for friends, groups, couples and adults to enjoy the wilderness, exploring on the UTVs, hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and relaxing by the fire in our lodge.
Low season packages may have some activity restrictions based on a weather and other trail/ranch conditions.
Pack trip Policies
Pack trips will go out in sunshine, snow or rain depending on trail conditions. There is no refund on pack trips cancelled within 60 days of trip departure. If inclement weather persists then you will stay at the base camp cabin instead of the wilderness camp, and do riding out of there for the day. If you decide this is not what you wanted all alternative accommodations are extra and not guaranteed or included in this package. There is a minimum of two participants, and a max of 13 per trip.
We highly recommend pack trip participants be in good physical health and able to withstand full days of riding and activity. Suggested age range is between 8 and 65 years of age. Children must be able to control their own horses and follow instructions. Pack trip packages run from June 14 until August 26 for the 2016 summer season. These are progressive trips departing from a base camp in the lower Gros Ventre Valley and ending at the Goosewing Ranch in the upper Gros Ventre Valley. Pack trip packages are subject to change.
